Swords & Combat

N
aoto fights mainly with swords, or katanas – whatever you want to call it. However, her agility also makes her eligible for some serious hand-to-hand combat fighting.

Swords

Upon meeting Fuyumine, Naoto is given a switchblade-looking knife. She uses this up in the majority of her own individual chapter. It’s only when Fuyumine dies that she takes up a different sword – his own.

The sword that Fuyumine leaves with her is her only clue to finding the murderer of her parents – as well as her name. In Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, she uses this item to seek out information or lead about the person. However, this sword also draws unwanted attention from Noki and Luki – two small and annoying girls that seem to be related to the person.

Combat

Naoto is very quick and agile, which seems to be her strong point. She’s also extremely flexible and is able to duck very low to avoid any attacks. In battle, Naoto is also very cool and calculating. All of these points are demonstrated in her battle with Magato, which you can find in her own individual chapter in the first manga of Dogs, Dogs: Stray Dogs Howling in the Dark.

Another thing to note about Naoto is her gentleness in some cases. Heine, as readers may know, is quite brutal in fighting. When he went to choke one of the Noki & Luki twins, Naoto is the first one to tell him to “quit it.” However, this was being said without knowledge of the genetic mutation that the twins went through.
But, Naoto does, or has not, killed anyone in the manga so far. This may change later on, but the most she does is wound them, torture them (when dealing with people who may have information on the anonymous murderer), or cut off any fingers.
